I was planning a general Happy New Year blog post this morning. Sadly, the Thai new year was a bit sombre as explosions ripped through several Bangkok markets and gathering areas – most of which we have personally been to in the past. It makes the bombings feel very close to home.

Word on the street is that the bombings may be connected to the recent coup and could have been organized by deposed former PM Taksin Shinawatra’s supporters. Soldiers are now back out on the streets. I guess we will find out more in the coming days. That’s all we know for now.
