I bet you never tried this before…

Chiang Mai is turning out to be a great city. It’s been pretty stinking hot lately – 100° on the warmer days. But we’ve enjoyed a few days of rain here lately. Now, evidently, each year when it rains in the spring, Chiang Mai gets these huge swarms of termites that come in massive swarms and bug the heck out of people (sorry for the pun).

Termite Food!Anyways, last night IT HAPPENED. The termites came. Some friends of ours were hanging out at the local YWAM office when they saw the bugs buzzing around outside. Evidently hungry, they grabbed a bucket, put in some oil (to drown the bugs, i guess?), herded as many termites as possible into it, then brought it into the kitchen, and fried them up with some soy sauce. And they ate it!

This is just one of the tangible benefits to being a missionary and living in another country. Sorta makes you want to visit us even more now, doesn’t it?
