People often ask us why we work with Muslims. Why did Jen give up her dream of studying culinary arts and Dan forgo becoming America’s next top model? 😉 They assume we have a special ‘Muslim calling’. And perhaps we do. But we usually explain that it’s really very simple: God loves Muslims, and therefore we must too.
Here are 5 reason why we (and you) should set aside time for sharing with Muslims.
God loves Muslims.
God loves Muslims in the same ways He loves us. Being created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), they can sin and fall short of God’s glory too (Romans 3:23). Additionally, God loves them so much that He sent His Son, so that those who believe in Jesus will have eternal life (John 3:16).
God is at work among Muslims.
Many are sensitive to God and spirituality. They’ll often speak of how God appeared to them in dreams or visions (see Acts 10:1-8 for an example of this) as well as share stories of healings because of God’s power through Jesus’ name. Muslims are hungry to know about God’s work through Jesus.
Muslims have some things to teach us.
Muslims take the spiritual world seriously and are generally more open to discuss spiritual issues. They have high respect for God and they place high value on community, loyalty, and hospitality. These are qualities that most westerners appreciate in their Muslim friends.
Muslims are just like us.
Most Muslims have the same concerns as us. Raising children well, despite concerns of rising crime, and costs of living. They decry human suffering and violence between people groups and, like many westerners, a large majority yearn for peace, friendship, and a happy life.
We are spiritually related to Muslims.
Muslims look to ‘Ibrahim’ (Abraham) as “our forefather” (Romans 4:1). Since those who follow Jesus call Abraham “the father of all who believe” (Romans 4:11), we share our lineage. Like us, Muslims believe in one true God, the Creator of all peoples.

I wonder what I gave up. Probably becoming CEO of Bed Bath and Beyond at an earlier age then what I will now be doing. But each of us can dream of what could have been. 🙂
We all need a dream, don’t we? 🙂
Awesome! Love and miss you guys! ❤️
